ACDC Seminar by Margherita Bertè on the 11th of November.

On the 11th of November at 16.00, Margherita Bertè will give an Amsterdam Dynamics Seminar. We will go for drinks at Bar Boele after the talk.

The talk will take place in the Maryam seminar room (9A-46).

Title: Equitable Partitions and Consensus Dynamics in Networks

Abstract: Partition-based network reduction has been developed across different mathematical frameworks, including Markov chain lumpability, equitable partitions, graph fibrations, and coupled-cell systems. These approaches provide lower-dimensional descriptions of network dynamics by exploiting structural regularities and invariant subspaces.
After outlining their historical origins and mathematical connections, we focus on approximate external equitable partitions and their implications for cluster synchronization. For consensus dynamics, we establish deterministic bounds relating deviations from equitability to within-cluster disagreement. We then extend the analysis to random networks, including stochastic block models and degree-based partitions, deriving conditions for asymptotically vanishing disagreement despite the absence of exact equitability.
