ACDC Seminar by Matthieu Cadiot on the 17th of September

On the 17th of September at 16:00, Matthieu Cadiot will give an Amsterdam Dynamics Seminar. We will go for drinks at Bar Boele after the talk.

The talk will take place in the Maryam seminar room (9A-46).

Title:  Computer-assisted proofs and Fourier analysis

Abstract: Computer-assisted techniques are increasingly used in the study of partial differential equations (PDEs), particularly when proving the existence of specific solutions. This is the case of periodic solutions, which can be looked for as Fourier series.

In this talk, I will present a computer-assisted approach for proving the existence of (spatially) periodic solutions in PDEs. This approach relies on a meticulous analysis on Fourier coefficients and associated Banach spaces for sequences. I will illustrate the method on the Swift-Hohenberg equation and provide some computer-assisted proofs of periodic solutions. Finally, I will present an extension of the approach to existence proofs of solutions on R^n.
