ACDC Seminar by Hildeberto Jardón Kojakhmetov on the 18th of February
On 18-02-2026 at 16:00, Hildeberto Jardón Kojakhmetov (University of Groningen) will give an Amsterdam Dynamics Seminar. We will go for drinks at Bar Boele after the talk.
The talk will take place in the Maryam seminar room (9A-46).
Title: Nilpotent singularities in adaptive networks
Abstract: Adaptive networks couple fast node dynamics with slowly evolving interactions. In near-critical regimes, this can generate nilpotent equilibria, in which the linearization has zero eigenvalues with nontrivial Jordan structure. At such points, classical spectral tools and standard center-manifold reductions are insufficient to describe how the network structure shapes the dynamics.
In this talk, I present a geometric approach based on blow-up desingularization adapted to network systems. Building on recent and ongoing joint work, I show how blowing up can partially resolve nilpotent points while preserving an interpretable network structure.
I illustrate these ideas, especially the pathway toward desingularization, in two settings: a recent structure-preserving normal form for nilpotent feedforward networks and a Kuramoto model exhibiting completely degenerate equilibria.
