European Physical Society (EPS) Best Poster Award for Bengi Dönmez

VU Mathematics PhD candidate Bengi Dönmez was awarded the European Physical Society (EPS) Best Poster Award at Dynamics Days Europe 2025 (Thessaloniki, June 2025) for her poster titled Reconstructing Networks and Hypernetworks of Coupled Oscillators from Time Series. According to the jury, the award “recognizes outstanding research, innovation, and presentation skills.” Bengi’s poster showcased ongoing research with Bob Rink on how to infer the interaction topology of a network of coupled Kuramoto oscillators from noisy observational data. The approach presented by Bengi enables reliable reconstruction of oscillator networks using only very small data sets by exploiting the fact that noise makes critical resonant interactions easier to recover.
